What are the precautions in guide bar maintenance?
Always turn off the chain saw engine before handling the guide bar. Otherwise, serious injury could occur. Refer to the chain saw operator's manual to install the guide bar properly.
How to maintain the guide bar?
1. Tension the chain
2. Check for damage and wear on components, and replace as needed.
3. Clean the bar grooves and oil holes.
4. Turn the bar over to allow for even wear.
5. Trim the rails, always from the bar head to the bar tail.
6. On the sprocket head bar, check the gap between the head and the bar body.
7. Replace the head sprocket before the cutter head or connector contacts the bar body.
