OSCARBIDE 15mm Square Carbide Inserts with 150mm radius face and 30° bevel. Designed for spiral/helical planer heads and woodturning tools.
You need a smooth finish straight from the planer—no snipe, no tear-out, no sanding for hours. You’re exhausted from stopping mid-project to replace single-use blades, or worse, sharpening worn-out carbides by hand because replacement cutters cost too much.
4 usable corners per insert → 4X longer cutting life than single-edged blades
150mm radius face — smoother shearing action; less vibration, less tear-out on figured woods like curly maple and walnut
30° cutting bevel — engineered to shear wood fibers, delivering a glass-like finish directly off the cutterhead
Mirror-polished surface — reduces friction and resin buildup for cleaner cuts on sticky woods like pine or cherry
Durable Tungsten Carbide Inserts

1.Q: What’s the screw size? Will the included screws fit?
A: Screws are NOT included. Verified reviews note that supplied screws (when included by some sellers) can be too large—approximately 6mm diameter instead of 5mm, or may protrude 1/4′′ from the tool base when used on turning tools. Use your original screws from your existing cutterhead or turning tool. Most planer cutterheads use M4 or M5 flathead screws (approx. 5–6mm dia.). If uncertain, consult your tool manual or measure your existing screws before installation.
2.Q: What is the correct torque for installation?
A: For planer cutterheads — Torque the screw to 50–55 inch-pounds (in-lb) . Lubricate the screw threads with a small amount of light machine oil, wipe off excess, and torque to spec. DO NOT overtighten—excess oil can hydrolock, raising the insert slightly and causing misalignment.
For woodturning tools — Tighten firmly by hand with the provided Allen wrench. Do not overtighten as carbide can crack under excessive pressure.
3.Q: How long does one edge last?
A: In hardwood (maple, walnut, oak) — approximately 500+ board feet per edge. In softwood or MDF — up to 800+ board feet. A professional shop using these daily reported they “last well,” though they may chip if dropped on a hard floor (hard to imagine life without them!).
4.Q: How do I know when to rotate to a fresh edge?
A: Listen for increased motor strain or humming. Look for raised fuzzy grain on the planed surface. Feel the edge with a fingernail (carefully) — if it feels smooth rather than sharp, rotate. Or simply mark a small dot on the top of the insert with a permanent marker to track which corner is in use.
5.Q: Will these fit my planer‘s helical cutterhead?
A: If your cutterhead accepts inserts that are 15mm long × 15mm wide × 2.5mm thick with a 150mm (6′′) face radius and a single countersunk mounting hole , yes. Always verify by comparing your existing insert with the dimensions and photos above.
